Orangebox

Orangebox

Orangebox began with the introduction of Giroflex into the UK market in 1973. Orangebox secured a license agreement with this Swiss manufacturer, leading to construction of the current production facility in Hengoed, South Wales. Giroflex expanded in the 70s and 80s by acquiring Gordon Russell, amongst others and was then bought by Steelcase Strafor in the late 1980s. They maintained ownership until 1998, when Mino Vernaschi led a management buyout and began a process of reinvigoration and product investment.

This began with the G64 task chair and the expansion into soft seating, resulting in the company’s rebranding and the formation of Orangebox in 2002. Orangebox remains a privately owned company. Since its launch, it has become recognised as one of the UK’s most progressive, innovative and successful office furniture companies.

Vitra

Vitra has manufactured furniture designs by Charles & Ray Eames and George Nelson since 1957. Building on this foundation over the years, the company has developed a wide range of furnishings for the office, for the home and for public spaces in collaboration with progressive designers.

Yet Vitra is more than just a design-oriented manufacturing company. The name also stands for the Vitra Design Museum, for a collection of modern furniture and its accompanying archive, for workshops and publications on topics of design, and for an architectural concept that unites buildings by Frank Gehry, Nicholas Grimshaw, Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando, Alvaro Siza, Herzog & de Meuron and SANAA at the Vitra Headquarters in Birsfelden (Switzerland) and on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein (Germany).
